How Has Being In A Sorority Helped You Grow?

Being in a Sorority to me means being an active and contributing member of an organization bigger than just myself. I am constantly encompassed by passionate, ambitious and confident women who inspire, and challenge me in all endeavours. With the support of my sisters, I was able to push myself out of my comfort zone and apply for an executive position within Panhel – something my anxious-self wouldn’t have dared to do before joining.

What Are Some Of Your Interests?

I love writing spoken-word poetry and doing improv, it’s a passion of mine and a great way to relieve stress. I’m an avid TV show binge-r; my guilty pleasure show right now is New Girl. I also thoroughly enjoy makeup and fashion – I definitely spend a hefty amount of money online shopping.

TOP 3 Goals For UBC Sororities This Year…

  1. To reduce the stigma around being a part of a sorority; I personally had a lot of misconceptions and stereotypical beliefs surrounding sororities before becoming a member. This would mean finding creative ways to illustrate to other UBC women the community and value of being a member of a sorority.
  2. To make sororities more appealing and inviting to UBC’s women underrepresented minority students.
  3. To plan more inter-sorority events; given the isolation brought by COVID 19 from the last two years, there was an evident disconnect in Panhellenic community. With more fun and inventive events between chapters, sorority members can feel better connected to their Panhellenic community.
