Panhellenic History

The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) is the premier advocacy & support organization for its members, member groups, college & alumnae panhellenic, and a proponent of sorority membership.

The NPC, founded in 1902, is an umbrella organization for 26 international sororities. Each member group is autonomous as a social, Greek-letter society of university women and alumnae. Members are represented on 650+ college/university campuses in the United States & Canada and in over 4,500 alumnae associations, making up over 4.1 million sorority women in the world. More information about NPC can be found at npcwomen.org.

Sororities came to UBC early in our university’s existence. Many started as local groups in the mid-1920s, but all became part of pre-established international organizations.
