Virtual Tours Schedule and Structure

​​In the first round, you will be assigned ONE of the following days:
Wednesday, September 22 OR Thursday, September 23 (all dates & times in PST)

Virtual Zoom link will be sent via email.

During Tours, you will visit all 8 of our chapters. At each chapter visit, the sorority women will welcome you as a larger group and then you will have an opportunity to meet more chapter women one-on-one or in smaller groups in breakout rooms. Tours visits are the shortest and you will find that they go by very quickly. It’s best to make sure that you are making good use of your time with each chapter by aiming to make meaningful connections from the moment you meet.

There are 10 minute breaks in between the visits. This is time for the sororities to make notes so that they can remember you; after all, they will be meeting hundreds of potential new members that day! This is your time to make YOUR notes on the women you met and the way you felt about the sorority you just visited. Make notes for the chapters that you visited and reflect on how the sorority aligns with the values you identified as priorities during orientation. Remember to always be respectful! Your experience is yours, not your friend's and vice versa!

You will receive an email with instructions regarding next steps such as how to use the online selection system after you visit your last chapter!

Tours Conversation Tips

​Tours is the most casual round of recruitment, from dress to conversation. You will get asked about your hometown and your major more times than you can count! Although you may get tired of answering the same questions, remember that there are eight different sororities who want to get to know you. While your major and hometown are a great way to break the ice, we recommend that you make an effort to talk about other important things about yourself:

• UBC Sororities is a values-based organization; we encourage that you talk about the values that are important to you!
• Think of it as a casual job interview; don’t be afraid to talk about your strengths and what you’re passionate about.
• Try to keep the meaningless conversation to a minimum. Although last night’s episode of The Bachelorette, or Suits was crazy, it won’t let the sorority women get to know you.
• Ask the sorority members meaningful questions about themselves. They will be used to answering questions about hometown and majors so try to ask memorable questions that will make you stand out!
• This one may seem obvious, but be considerate to everyone that you meet, even if you feel like you don’t fit in with a certain sorority. Remember that there are a lot of women in each sorority; just because you don’t “click” with a few women during Tours, doesn’t mean you wouldn’t find some amazing women if you went back during Invitationals!
• Please reach out to your RC if you feel you need any extra support at any time during a round or even after recruitment; they are there for you!
