UBC Greek Week

UBC Greek Week 2012 was an incredible way to show to campus how great Greek really is! Greek Week is a week long period of Greek festivities in which UBC Sororities and Fraternities, pair up and team together to participate in events. With fun-filled events all week, UBC Sororities and Fraternities have the opportunity to bond and meet new people within the Greek system. Congratulations to Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Gamma Delta for winning Greek Week 2012!

Alpha Omicron Pi “Goes Blue for Arthritis”

Alpha Omicron Pi held their annual yoga oriented philanthropy “AOII Goes Blue for Arthritis.” All proceeds fund raised were donated to Arthritis Society BC & Yukon Division. Also, UBC Sororities would like to congratulate Marissa Lo for being honored by the Canadian Arthritis Society as their Outstanding Volunteer for her dedication to working with juvenile arthritis! Because of Marissa and Beta Kappa’s hard work, Marissa and Chapter President Marina Deltcheva will do a special interview with the Arthritis Society to talk about of all the wonderful fundraising they have done for arthritis.

Join the Sisters of Gamma Phi Beta as they kick off their very first Spagammi spaghetti dinner. On, Wednesday, April 4, they will be selling plates of spaghetti, with all proceeds going to the Girl Guides of Canada. There will be a competition to see which sorority and which fraternity can raise the most money. So cancel your dinner plans for April 4th and we hope to see you at Spagammi!

Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Phi, and Gamma Phi Beta celebrated their annual Triad Tea on February 29. These three sororities were all founded at Syracuse University and are known as the ‘Syracuse Triad.’ The annual tea is to commemorate their common bond, enjoy great company and to share their experiences that they have had altogether. We hope you were able to meet new people and that you had a great time!

All Panhellenic Exchange

On March 7, all the sororities on campus participated in an all Panhellenic exchange! Chapter rooms were divided by faculties and were transformed into study rooms. Girls had the opportunity to not only meet new sorority women, but meet girls who were in the same faculty as them. We hope everyone had a great time meeting new people!

International Badge Day was established in 1997 by the National Panhellenic Conference to set aside a day for women throughout the world to wear their sorority badges or Greek letters in a celebration of sisterhood.

This year’s theme is: “Wear Your Letters on Your Heart.”

UBC Sororities is excited to celebrate this day on Monday, March 5, 2012, by wearing our badge and showing that “No matter the letter, we are all Greek together.”

‘Phi’bruary’ has just begun and the Sisters of Alpha Phi have a variety of fun events planned. Among the festivities is their signature philanthropy event ‘Dating Game’ which will be held on Thursday, February 9. The event, which gets its name from the 60′s style TV show, is essentially a game of matchmaking. Whether you’re an audience member or contestant you are guaranteed a good laugh! All proceeds will go to the Alpha Phi Foundation and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Alpha Gamma Delta’s Alpha Race

The sisters of Alpha Gamma Delta will be hosting their annual philanthropy event, Alpha Race on Sunday, February 12 in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This fun-filled event will challenge teams to race around UBC campus in pursuit of this year’s Alpha Race championship title! This event is open to all of UBC, so come out and show support for Alpha Gam and the JDRF. We hope to see you all there!

Congratulations to all of the sororities who have participated in Spring Recruitment. We welcome you to UBC Sororities and we hope you experience everything the Greek system has to offer; from leadership opportunities to countless philanthropies, we hope you enjoy every minute of being a part of a once in a lifetime experience. Delta Gamma Anchor Splash

What a splash! Thank you to everyone who went out and supported Delta Gamma for their signature philanthropy event Anchor Splash and congratulations to Alpha Delta Pi for winning for the second year in-a-row! All the proceeds fundraised were donated to the Delta Gamma Foundation, Service for Sight and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.

Canadian Interfraternal Conference

Greeks from Canada, as far as Ontario, came to UBC’s very first CIFC. It was such a great success and amazing experience. The jam-packed weekend was full of workshops and events that were too good to pass up. It was great listening to the keynote speaker, TJ Sullivan, Sue Stanek and all of the UBC Sororities and Fraternities members and alumni who presented. Thank you to all of the delegates that participated and volunteers that made sure the event was a success. A huge thank you and congratulations goes out to the planning committee, whose hard-work and sleepless nights did not go unnoticed. It was such a successful weekend and we can’t wait until next year!
